Battleroids are cyborgs created from dead soldiers and enhanced using different technologies. 2194 brought a war between the Independent Asteroid Government of Icarus and the Republic of Thermopylae and new weapons were tested and used:

This is a quote from a terminal (Beware of Low-Flying Defense Drones...)

Dead soldiers were recycled in makeshift battleroid factories. Easy to manufacture chips enhanced the fragile human brain, and genetically enhanced muscles and titanium bones replaced the fragile human form. The modern battleroid was born.

The use and storage of battleroids became regulated in 2214 by the United Interplanetary League.

The Marathon

Bernard Strauss managed to place ten Mjolnir Mark IV cyborgs onto the UESC Marathon. During the invasion of Tau Ceti by the Pfhor, nine of these cyborgs were destroyed [citation needed]. The remaining cyborg was the Security Officer of the Marathon and was not in the colony during the invasion.

The player-character

Main article: player-character
also known as the Security Officer

The final screen from Marathon Infinity notes that the player-character is a "man long dead, grafted to machines."[1] By the end of the Marathon trilogy there is plenty of evidence that the player-character is, indeed, a cyborg.

This was finally confirmed in an alleged letter from Bungie.[2]
